The name Sunzal refers to the great 300-yard right-hand point break that is best accessed at Playa El Tunco. (There is also a nearby roadside village called El Sunzal, but it has no beachfront access.) The best way to access the surf, beaches, restaurants, and hotels is in Playa El Tunco. Playa El Tunco is easily seen by the large wooden sign at the entrance.

For air travel to Sunzal, fly into Comalapa International Airport in San Salvador. The airport code is SAL. (Be careful not to be confused by San Salvador in the Bahamas. We once heard a sad story about a travel agent booking a client into the wrong location.) We offer airport pickup and drop-off and we can pick you up at any bus station or terminal. Just let us know where and when you will be arriving and we’ll get you to the waves as soon as possible.
